On October 19, 2020, Jeff Day will speak (online) about teaching science through media to the Refugees Exploring the Foundations of Undergraduate Education in Science (REFUGES) program at the University of Utah. The program is an after-school program that gives STEM opportunities to under-represented women, minorities, refugees, non-native English speakers and economically disadvantaged students. Students currently have the opportunity to work with Grace Hsu, a scientific animator at the University of Utah, trying their hands at 3D animation. Jeff will speak about careers in medical illustration, share best practices for communication in media, and give tips for research, writing and animation preparation.
