Lydia Gregg received her Master of Arts in Medical and Biological Illustration from the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2007 after studying biology, scientific illustration and figurative sculpture at the University of Michigan.

As a medical illustrator and animator, Lydia specializes in depicting neurovascular & spine conditions for peer-reviewed journal articles, books, presentations and websites. In addition, she develops patient education materials including medical comics (graphic medicine) and educational animations. Lydia’s areas of interest in research include cerebrovascular anatomy, embryology & pathology, as well as testing the efficacy of visual communication and medical education materials. Lydia also develops 3D models from segmented radiological data for didactic 3D prints, phantoms & flow models for research purposes and animation assets.

Lydia has received numerous awards and honors including the Inez Demonet Award, the Frank H. Netter MD Memorial Scholarship in Medical Art, National Health Information awards and multiple salon awards from the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI) as well as other organizations. Lydia was inducted as a Fellow of the AMI in 2013 and served as Chair of the AMI Board of Governors from 2016 to 2017. She is the founder and former Chair of the AMI Online Learning Committee.
