Celebrating 25 Years of Professional Membership

We are pleased to announce that Associate Professor Jennifer Fairman, MA, MPS, CMI, FAMI, has been awarded the Outstanding Service Award for 2024 by the Association of Medical Illustrators (AMI). This prestigious recognition highlights her exceptional contributions to the field of medical illustration and her ongoing dedication to the AMI community.

This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Professor Fairman’s membership with the Association as a Professional Member. Over the years, she has made significant contributions in a variety of volunteer roles, most notably serving as Chair of the AMI’s Mentorship Committee from 2019 to 2024, where she played a key role in the committee’s development and growth. Currently, she serves as the AMI’s President-Elect, further demonstrating her leadership and commitment to advancing the profession.

The Outstanding Service Award is given annually to up to two AMI members whose actions or contributions have had a profound and lasting impact on the field of medical illustration. Professor Fairman is the recipient of this honor for the second time, having previously been awarded the distinction in 2008, alongside her colleague Tom Weinzerl, at the AMI Annual Conference in Richmond, VA.

AMI President Todd Buck, announced the award during the 2024 Awards Banquet in Rochester, NY with these remarks:

“We would now like to present the Outstanding Service Award to a professional AMI member whose actions and creations have had a truly significant positive impact on both the AMI and the profession of medical illustration. This individual has contributed tirelessly to our association and our profession. This person works incredibly hard behind the scenes on various projects and is always one of the first to volunteer when help is needed. To name a few things: this person has been instrumental in elevating the AMI Mentorship Program, served as an advisor to the AMI Diversity Fellows, regularly assists with the online salon, event websites and other needs, and goes above and beyond to be present and engaged at all AMI functions. At this time we are pleased to present the 2024 Outstanding Service Award to Jennifer Fairman.”
