Introduction to web coding language, theory, techniques, and development with specific emphasis on using a Content Managment System for the creation of a dynamic portfolio website.
Course Description
Objectives
- Understand basic web technologies and languages
- Understand basic principles of user experience (ux) design and the web:
- Implement story boards, flowcharts, ui design, prototypes
- Understand user interface design
- Implement interactivity
- Utilization of plugins, child themes and widgets
- Publish and optimize for web
- Build & publish portfolio website
- Best Practices, SSL and SEO
Student Evaluations
- 1:1 faculty-student interactions
- Successful completion of above-mentioned assignments
Assignments
Students will further develop their skills through class lectures/demonstrations, tutorials and class exercises, including:
- Student Web Page, with mini cv/portfolio page using WordPress to be posted on the Hopkins AAM website.
- Personal WordPress Portfolio Website with splash, portfolio, about/bio, CV and contact
Resources
Course syllabus, Macintosh or PC computer hardware and software, Adobe Creative Cloud and other Adobe CC software, removable media, scanners, Ethernet/internet connectivity, stylus-based input devices, laser and color printers. Software manuals, tutorials, and third-party books, websites and handouts on various computer topics will also be made available
