We thank Fred Harwin for his dedication and service in teaching ocularistry to students training in clinical anaplastology in the Department of Art as Applied to Medicine since 2010.  Back in 1995, at the Association of Medical Illustrator’s annual meeting, our former department chair Gary Lees and current faculty member Juan Garcia first discussed with Fred the need to involve more medical artists in the care of patients needing facial and ocular prosthetics.  As a Board Approved Diplomate Ocularist with an MS in Medical Illustration, Mr. Harwin generously shared his expertise and helped us formalize our novel graduate program, the Master of Science in Clinical Anaplastology, established at Hopkins in 2022. Fred Harwin served as an adjunct faculty member in our department for over a decade, from 2014 to 2025.

Thank you, Fred!
