Juan Garcia

Mr. Garcia is an Associate Professor in the department, teaching courses in Medical Sculpture, Ophthalmological Illustration, as well as Research and Thesis. He also directs the program for Supervised Clinical Anaplastology Training. This training program is offered through the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Since 1999, Mr. Garcia has been the Director the Facial Prosthetics Clinic practice. The clinic provides custom-made prosthetic devices for those with missing facial, ocular and somatic anatomy. Additional services provided include: custom ocular prostheses, custom made surgical guides using CT scans, surface laser scans, custom silicone implants, custom 3D medical models, and 3D printed medical models.

Mr. Garcia has a research interest in the use of advanced 3D technologies such as: digital sculpting, photogrammetry, laser scanning and various 3D printing technologies, as well as use of navigation assisted surgery for placement of ossoeintegrated implants for retaining facial prosthetic devices. He has played a key role in developing professional standards for clinical anaplastologists, through his ongoing participation on the Board for Certification in Clinical Anaplastology (BCCA). Since 1998, he has been an active member of the International Anaplastology Association, having served as a past President of this organization.
